Welcome to Spoon River Junction!

First, we just wanted to say thanks to all the people who have shown us so much support as we’re trying to get this little project off the ground, including all of the construction people who helped renovate, wine industry personnel (production, design, marketing, business, etc.) who have lent an ear and offered some kind advice, and especially to SRJ VIPs Terry and Sherry Beam, who for whatever reason just keep showing up day after day to do whatever needs to be done.

We also really want to take a second to thank all of you who took a chance on us in December and January, picking up wine without being able to taste it first. Given the number of repeat customers we’ve seen in such a short amount of time, it seems most of you found something you liked. We cannot thank you enough for your support.

Speaking of taking chances, these first four wines were designed to be outside of the box, and we really didn’t know exactly how they’d go over with folks. Our winemaker Brad knew they were well-made, but that doesn’t mean people will actually enjoy them, or want to drink them again. Surprisingly, sales of all four have been pretty consistent, so it looks like we’re on the right track. We plan to offer these four wines again in 2021, but will also add a few new wines to the lineup. These include an unoaked white and rosé, as well as a specialty aperitif (strong, sweet, and totally unique). All three of the new wines are grown in central Illinois and made on site, which makes us happy, and supports local growers too!

As for tastings, we’re still putting the finishing touches on our tasting room, and working on SRJX merchandise, so we’re planning on continuing things as they are until late Spring or early Summer 2021. You can always place an advance order for pickup through our website or just swing by and tell us what you need.  Our hours are going to stay Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, 12-6 PM. We’ve already added a few items to our list, including a logo corkscrew, a wine carrier tote bag, a wine vacuum pump to help keep open wines fresh longer, and of course the HaloVino logo glasses.

Again, just a huge thanks to everyone for helping us get started. on the right foot. We’re thrilled with the response we’ve received so far, and even more excited about the wines we’ll be releasing in 2021.  Cheers!
